I bought this K5 in the Summer of 1999 from the original owner. It was bone stock except a 4" Rancho lift, 4.11 gears, and a rebuilt/beefed 700R-4. I bought a set of 15x10" M/T Classic II's and Dunlop Mud 33x12.5x15's within a few days.
In Spring of 2008 I was going through a divorce and was forced to sell it (luckily to a friend).
In August (2011) he asked me if I was interested in buying it back from him. So I got my pennies saved up and bought it back.
Since I do LS swaps part time I usually had a spare LS motor (or ten) laying around. So this K5 is got a modern powerplant/drivetrain with the modern EFI and overdrive. I also had my trans guy custom build a 2nd Gen 4L80e for it (with all the good **** & fixes) along with GM reman 2000 stall converter.
The 5.3 is from a 2001 Silverado 1500 2WD. The engine will remain stock except for a cam/spring/pushrod swap from 2004 Corvette LS6 and a set of Marine 8.1 42# injectors. I wanted LT headers so I bought a set of stainless long tube headers intended for a '98-'02 LS1 F-Body (since no one offers a 4 into 1 long tube header for '73-'87 ('91) Chevy/GMC 4x4's).
I had to modify the F-Body headers to work. The driver side just needed the collector pie cut since these headers tend to 'toe out' (was hitting the spring shackle). The passenger side was also hitting the shackle, but on the actual tubes. So I had to pie cut all 4 primary tubes from the bottom in order to 'swing' the header away from the shackle, but still allow room for the starter too.
I still have a bunch of little things to complete including (but not limited to) plumbing the fuel system.
Thoughts, comments, and/or questions? Post'em up!!
Thanks guys!!

Bunch of changes....
A few months ago I decided the 4x4 just wasnt my think any longer so I bought a donor '87 chassis for its suspension pieces and swapped out my 4x4 gear for the 2wd gear. While I was there I rebuilt the front end with a new quick ratio steering box, poly urthane bushings, new ***** joints, and wheel bearings.
A week ago I bought a Roush (same as SLP) TVS 1900 supercharger kit with less than 5k miles on
Finished installing it a few days ago and got it dyno tuned yesterday, very pleased with the results.
Thinking about the LS9 cam now.....
