Even if you paid Paypal should have had your back, but having the money tied up for however long the "investigation" would take would not be fun. Good that you avoided it, plenty of others aren't so lucky...
Correct about the shipping no way that would cost $200 dollars.
Shipped a transmission through UPS 144lbs in a huge container and the shipping was $230 dollars insured for $2,900
ya your right, paypal would have to step in but no telling how long that would take. Thats just unneeded stress for scumbags. I saw your transmission shipping and figured mine would be half. Luckily I found one on camaro5 and bought from a nice guy. Had about 25k miles on it but just recently had rebuild done by zz performance, solid isolator, and also already has 2.55 pulley which is what I was going to run. He even paid shipping, so it was a no brainer for 1500. Still super pricey compared to five years ago but nothing you can do about it.
Eh not quite so quick as I just shipped my LS9 charger from IL to CA and it was $221 via FedEx!!! I had my poker face on as I wanted to call BS amongst other instant emotions lol.
Prior to that I shipped it from IL to PA (Kong) and it was $157 and when shipped it back it was only $100 for christ sake, mostly likely he gets some type of business discount.
The clerk at FedEx also said that it actually costs more to ship over a weekend so that is now noted. Also insured value adds a little more on top.
But as to your bigger problem of potential scam, good job on being very cautious!
Got some parts in here recently and started working on getting my engine out to send off the machine shop. Got the bottom blower for 1500 dollars and seller covered shipping. He did a rebuild on it after 23k miles and 5k miles on it after rebuild. It has solid isolator and 2.50 pulley. Bought some ID850 injectors. Have some question if I could get some help maybe on the front drive accessories. I would like to run a 8 rib to the supercharger. Shopping around on brackets I only need alternator and steering relocate. I need a lsa crank balancer for sure, but unsure on water pump. Some people use entire belt and all accessories on the supercharger. I thought with a lsa balancer the 8 rib on outside runs the supercharger, middle section runs rest of engine accessories which is six rib. I know olsen kustom has a couple choices.
I called lsxconcepts and they built me a kit for about 1400 that includes new alternator, power steering, water pump, Lsa balancer, tensioners, and brackets. This would be to run two belts one for SC and other for rest.
I could shave maybe 200 off that price by looking for used balancer for cheaper and water pump. There are other options to piece it together with ls7 and Lsa stuff but in the end it amounts to same amount of money. Plus with the lsxconcepts I get upgraded tensioners. At this point what a few more dollars and as my father in law says it’s only money lol.
It will be corvette. It will require more work but when I converted the top end to ls3 style I got rid of a couple of truck front drive accessories already, so it just makes sense to continue with that. Only thing I will have to fix it the connectors going to power steering pump, they wont match up.
