Back in the game. RCSB 1500 D-max swap coming...

i was wanting to do this a few years ago to my truck but never had the $$ to pull it off... then when i did, i bought the car & started playing with it instead. now, i kinda wish i had...
i can see how you'd want to make sure it'll run in stock form first, but it'd sure be a lot easier to mod while it's all apart.
i'd be throwing TrueTracs in there too if it's feasible
i'm pretty sure i've read a few places it takes a 2" body lift to fit the Allison in a 1500 - something the HDs already had over the 1/2 tons
that was my second plan - but after so much work on this truck, it's so hard to let it go
that & finding a good 2500 with a diesel & either the 4500 or 650 transmissions is hard in a reg cab

TrueTrac or something similar will probably be in the future plans.
It's the front cooling stack that requires the 2" body lift, not the trans.

Somewhere in the dozens of threads(I believe one TheBac's) that you can put the 2500 spindle in the 1500 arms. Where its going to get interesting is the 9.25 diff in place of the 8.25. Search on GMFS in the lifted suspension section for a diff swap thread by a guy in LA. He was trying to do the 9.25 swap in a obs. I believe the main problem was the oil pan but it has some good info about the cvs and mounts. As Roger told you, duntov on here has done the 2500 front suspension swap on his tahoe so he woukd be a good source for questions too.

Thanks Cody. When I get to that point I'll give him a shout if I run into trouble.
This truck comes up for auction next Tuesday, I just put in bid. We'll see what happens. 70k miles, 2007 LBZ, 3LT interior. Front clip looks good, suspension looks good, interior looks good, engine starts. Looks like someone laid it over on the passenger side.

And it was a good thing that you edited it because it could show up in a search and some one could out bid you.
Not sure in your area what they go for But hopefully It's enough to get it.
I can't believe what some people pay out here for some of the wrecked vehicles. All I can think is that they are stealing good vehicles to get the needed parts to fix them. With the price they pay on some things, there is no room to make any money selling the good parts or fixing the vehicle to sell. Even if they keep it, the time and money to fix some of them Would be cheaper and faster to buy a good Vehicle with a clean title from the start.
