Back in the game. RCSB 1500 D-max swap coming...

That's awesome! That reminds me, I need to check the RPO codes on the truck I bought. My guess is it has 3.73's. Might be worth switching even to 3.23's eventually.
I haven't had a chance to do anything with the truck yet except take off the tailgate and tool box I'm going to end up with a truck bed and cab sitting on the back porch, bet the neighbors will love that

Only thing I havent read about yet is motor mounts. Seems you can notch the frame and drop the dmax cooling stack down so you dont have to do a body lift. Also might want to check and see how much adjustment youve got left on the torsion bars. The Dmax is a little over 300#s heavier. Could always swap to HD Tbars I suppose though.

i was wanting to do this a few years ago to my truck but never had the $$ to pull it off... then when i did, i bought the car & started playing with it instead. now, i kinda wish i had...
i can see how you'd want to make sure it'll run in stock form first, but it'd sure be a lot easier to mod while it's all apart.
i'd be throwing TrueTracs in there too if it's feasible
i'm pretty sure i've read a few places it takes a 2" body lift to fit the Allison in a 1500 - something the HDs already had over the 1/2 tons
that was my second plan - but after so much work on this truck, it's so hard to let it go
that & finding a good 2500 with a diesel & either the 4500 or 650 transmissions is hard in a reg cab
Kinda what I was thinking.
RCLB 2500 4x4 with the Dmax already in it then just chop it down and put SWB bed on it. Prolly wouldn't be a whole lot heavier than a half ton. Then it could still be used as a 3/4 ton for pulling/hauling stuff.
Either way your build is awesome!

If what I have read is correct, all that is needed to mount the d-max into the 1/2 ton frame is an adapter plate for the gasser motor mounts. Apparently 3 of the 4 bolt holes line up, and the motor itself is in the correct position. I've seen pics somewhere before, trying to find them again.
