Any idea what what the spring rate is on those rear coil overs (pound/ inch)? My rear coilovers springs are 200 pound/inch. It rides nice, but I have a lot of preload on the spring to get the right height correct. Curious what Ride Tech suggested for a spring in the kit.
Very cool project. All the right stuff in my opinion.
In the pics I am running a 12in 250# ridetech / hyperco spring. Ride tech suggested around a 200# spring. The ones I had were a little too short for my application (springs would become unseated when the truck was raised. In have since swapped to eibach springs that are 14in 225#. I am going with a slightly stiffer spring than recommended, because I occasionally haul some stuff.
I have some 295/65r15s im getting ready to put on with a set of 15x10s 6.5 inch back space. There is actually more room than with the leafs springs. I gained maybe a 1/2 inch. they should clear no problem. This is on a 255/50r20 tire on a stock Tahoe ltz wheel.
Drove the truck like that for a year or so. The ride was better still needed to address the front suspension. But first I had to do something about the exhaust. It droned so bad, to the point it wasn't even enjoyable to drive. I guess it was a combination of things that were causing the issue. First having no cats, and being that the exhaust dumped under the bed. Even with a quality quieter magnaflow muffler didn't help the drone. Started to research my options, and decided that a custom exhaust was the way to go. I decided to go with a H-pipe true dual setup. I wanted an old school muscle car sound. Planned for some small cats to keep my garage from smelling like fuel, and went with 2 dynomax mufflers. I modified the trans crossmember to free up a bunch of room still allowing access to the trans pan if needed. I used all aluminized pipe for the cost factor, like everything else on the project, didn't want to spend a fortune. This is how it turned out.
Nice exhaust work! But the way it exits needs some tips or something unless your going for the sleeper look. Cause it looks very stock. Good job either way
The sound of the exhaust, in my opinion, is way better. It has a nice deep rumble at idle. At cruse almost don't even know there is an exhaust on it, zero drone. When you get on the gas it screams, sounds just like and old school muscle car. no rasp just a nice deep tone.
