6.0 swap #3
6 Attachment(s)
Hopefully for the last time! At least this time I am pulling out a running engine  I picked up an L76 truck engine last weekend, aluminum block swingit
Disassembled for a trip to the machine shop: Attachment 149393 Attachment 149394 Attachment 149395 needs some new cam bearings Attachment 149396 stock L92s Attachment 149397 new oil pan, pretty neat but will be using the old one since its already tapped Attachment 149398 Couple comments....its extremely light. I haven't even used an engine hoist at all, just myself and a friend lifting the short block. The bare block itself is plenty light enough to haul around myself. Hell of a convenience! Local cars and small bikes have a hard time keeping up with the little 4.8, this thing should put a hurtin' on em! More to come :) |
Sweet!!!
Well you gain a .10 alone with weight diff ! So what are your internal plans? |
Kick ass. Gotta be strange to lift the block yourself and move the shortblock with a friend and not strain like crazy!
Can't wait to see what she does. |
I love my ls1 engines just because I can pick them up by myself! Nice engine, I'm jealous.

If i need to move my LS1 block, I just pick it up and take it to wherever I need it. It's kinda handy. |
When will it be done at the machine shop and what all are you having done? When is the estimated drop in date lol
|
So what happened to the other 6.0 builds?
|
Yea I'm interested in what happened as well.
|
Should be done at the shop pretty quick. Way those guys work, that could be today lol. Just getting the cam and lifter bores checked, and then new cam bearings installed. Internals will stay stock for the time being. First 6.0 had the wrong plugs and thermostat could have been a step colder... I was spraying a ton of meth and still seeing knock so I figured it was false knock cause I couldn't feel or hear anything. Turns out I was wrong :eyes: The last one was the one with the clearance issues. Update on that, I sent an email to the machinist asking why he went so crazy with the clearances and got a whole novel in response, and I have yet to continue that conversation lol. Anyway, this engine should be going in in about 2 weeks. In fact, it would be going in before the next track day but I do want to bring the 4.8 down there to see what it'll do. The track is just never open here :(

It's a good idea to take the cam you will be running to the shop, the aluminum blocks have something about them and the cam won't go into the engine. Both of the ls1 engined I did last month had this problem.
I'm curious, one the last 6.0 did you use aftermarket rod bolts? |
