Nitrous on the highway

Ok I'm in the middle of installing a nitrous kit on my silverado. I'm running a wot switch and a window switch. My question is when I'm wanting to spray on the highway do I shift down manually to the gear I should be on at wot then arm the nitrous or just arm it then floor it and let it down shift it self. Just doesn't seem like a good idea to floor it with the wot switch engaging the nitrous before it even shifts down. Sorry for the noob question

if you think your transmission is up to the task, go for it! personally i would grab the column and put it in the gear you want. easier on parts. just make sure the window switch is set below your redline rpm in the tune just incase you miss a gear.

I wasn't for sure what everyone else was doing, and ya I don't think my tranny would like spraying thru a shift very much.

Been spraying the piss out of my stock 60e for several years now. Always downshifted and staged it up manually before the hit. On bottle and NA. Think thats why its lasted so long

I'm surprised yours has lasted, especially with the weight of a Tahoe.

I would definitely pull down into the gear you want, these trans don't take kindly to 4-2 downshifts.

Its only a 300 more lbs than my friends excab haha. That was back with no weight reduction :jest:

i find this "don't spray through this shift crap" to be an internet generated myth.

drop to the gear you want. hit it, shift manually from a roll.

i always spray through the shift, but downshifting on the nitrous is harsh and can be avoided by grabbing the column.

Set your tune up to down shift with the tow/haul button..
hit the tow/haul button and its set, arm nitrous and hammer down.
It shifts out when its suppose to, which i always set mine up to shift earlier on nitrous if its a bigger shot.

I like the idea of tuning the tow/haul button to shit it down to the gear it should be in. Ill see if my tuner can do it.
