High Compression/Nitrous on E85 Setup

1 Attachment(s)
So I got a new toy coming to the house. Pick the car up tomorrow. =) Changing directions for a bit.

That said, new setup is LS2 403 with 13.5 to 1 compression, TFS 235's, Hptuners, solid roller 271/291 .740/.720, currently on a 250HP/ .88n progressive. He's only run renegade pro 120n in the primary and separate tank.

Now I love me some E85. Would there be any advantage to switching to e85 in both tanks other then fuel cost? Would it run cooler/faster? What kind of timing difference would I need to change? I believe he said it's got 30 degrees in on motor, I haven't seen what he's pulling on the bottle. Just wondering what my tuning window look like on 13.5 to 1 and 250-300 shots on E85.

Thanks guys!

Any updates to this?

I highly recomend you go post this on yellowbullet.com, just bring back the advice you get.

There are some very serious builders and drivers on yellowbullet.
Be warned, there are almost no rules on YB, some of the guys are serious assholes.
So pull up ya big girl panties, put your nomex on and go see what advice ya get.

Hey guys, I'm still deployed so I won't be able to play with the car till September. Ezdaar, I am a member over a YB and spoke with a couple guys. One was Steve Johnson of Inductions solutions, I covered my whole setup and he suggested leave it on high octane gas. I also spoke with Mike Croley at Renegade racing fuels, went over all details on car and he too suggested to leave it on 120Nos as opposed to drum e85. Both guys didn't really say it wasn't possible and from my research with such a large cam dropping dynamic compression, it could work, but in the end it will play nicer with timing/power on the nitrous fuel. Soooo, looks like I'll be rocking that next season. I honestly plan to see very little street but for some test hits, it will be 99% track car. It's got a 5 gallon tank in trunk and 1 gallon tank under hood for nitrous.

Couple loading her on the trailer vids my old man sent me.

Very nice!

I'd only recommend making the switch if you have a solid need to. All else equal, you lose around 3% horsepower because of the additional volume occupied by the e85. Unless you're spark limited on the 120 and have to crank up enrichment to compensate, I wouldn't make the change. Methanol would be a better option. But if you're just looking to reduce operating costs on that beast, do whatever you gotta do. I'm sure that fuel is expensive lol.

Fuels not cheap for sure, but the way I see it i'm going to use about 1-1.5 gallons a pass so 2 drums or so should last me a season. I'm also researching water injection and nitrous, seems to soften up the tuning window but again not sure how much its needed on quality fuel. I just want to have some room for error as it's my first nitrous setup/tuning time. I figure I'll run it a season on bottle and see how I feel about changing the setup. I been eye balling procharger stuff. I love the packing/size of something like a 4.0 or 4.5L whipple for a future lsx next block build but its just seems no one does that do maybe there is a reason for it.

I also got a copy of the tune for the car. With turbo I also bring timing back in after peak tq and helps carry the car out in the upper RPMS. Does this still hold true on nitrous cars? This car is setup to have flat timing from damn 2500-7500 rpms (30 degree's) He's currently pulling 8 on the 250 for a total of 22 on spray.
