Can you guys please help explain to me the nitrous controllers. I am starting to look at a controller for my nitrous system. I don't want to make this a fight between you guys but rather gain your collective knowledge on the subject.
i am looking at making my nitrous system spray a 75 or 100 shot out of the hole (where i will have traction) and go up to a 150 shot or larger when traction won't be a problem. i have seen and looked at the controllers out there and i really don't know if they will do that for me. can you guys enlighten me??? oh yea, truck suspensions don't like hard nitrous hits off the line with a high stall converter. no matter what tires you have...

There is a new player on the block if ya didn't already know. Well what you want to do is doable for sure. you can do it time based. Time based will get you out of first gear. Lets say you want to split your shot up 75/75. So you figure 75 outa the hole then you can ramp in second 75hp by time and have it coming in later and fully in second gear if you like. Or set second 50% to come on after your 60' time, or 600 feet or what you want/need. There are so many controllers and ways to do this that it gets a little confusing. Our controller is going to be time based progressive, which I think is a little better than rpm based, cause rpm based you have to have everythin in on each gear, compared to getting full hit beased on time. I don't have the full specs or pricing, but be assured that $$ maybe the best on the market. Quality with value is our motto. Some of the controllers do both time/rpm, but if not needed it's just an additional cost. I hoped I helped slightly, but there is no easy answer, as all are so new... I am sure Dave will have some insight also.

So, technically speaking......how do these things limit the amount of nitrous sprayed from start to finish? I mean, literally, how are they wired to, say, the window switch? I understand the basic function, but I've never had first hand experience with the actual wiring/installation of one. Can these units be turned on and off, or do they have to be set for each particular situation all of the time? For instance, say you go to a crappy prepped track and need a certain % at the start. Well, the next weekend, you go to a fully prepped track and you can use the full blast out of the hole. Can you simply turn it off, or will you still have to use it, just at the highest setting? Thanks for the info posted above as well guys.

Im currious how they work too, do you need another set of solenoids and nozzles for the second "step"? From what I know about electroinc stuff a solenoid eigther fires, or it doesnt, they arent adjustable to open half way, they are open, or closed. Thanks for the info.

They pulse the solenoids, basically turning them on and off very (very very) fast. In doing so you end up with a nice power curve. I can't comment on wiring other manufactures controllers, but The Advantage is pretty easy. There are 4 wires. One goes to the ground wire on your solenoids. Second goes to your arming switch. Third is a ground, and the fourth is a "trigger wire". The Trigger Wire will activate the unit (when supplying a ground). Lots of different ways to activate, if using a window switch in your set up the window switch would trigger The Advantage on (with a relay). So installation is pretty simple.
Any progressive controller is going to have to be dialed in for the environment that it's being used in. If you wanted to bypass The Advantage you could set your start % to 60, end % to 100 and build time to 0.1. The solenoids will go through 1 quick progression (off | on | off | full on) and you'll be at full power. So you will have .1 of a second delay before 100% full power.

That progrssive contorller in the picture is mine.All I have to say is get one,it is bad ***,I promise.Very nice to have.Need any help with this Cold Fusion progressive sontroller just ask me or one of the dealers,I would also be glad to help you and answer questions even though I am not a dealer,I just knnow how this Cold Fusion controller works,I am the first one to have there.If I do not know the answer then i will find out ASAP.
