New member here, iv'e been told by a couple of my truck buddies to get on this forum as there is a lot of useful info. With that being said I currently have an 05 sierra crew that I recently put a junkyard motor in (added BTR stage 4 truck cam, TSP dual valve springs to the freshly decked 862's ,ls7 lifters and a tune). Well long story short the good deal I THOUGHT I was getting turned into a spun rod bearing about 2k into its journey..... so i have another 5.3 laying around that had a bad lifter, and also have a gen4 in my shop with a melted piston and a set of 243s that i will probably rob/order one piston as they are flat tops, and swap my springs into the 243s, along with the rods out of the gen 4. With all of that being said, i am extremely weary of used parts after all that hard work blew up, although i will be re using my cam and lifters that dont even have an oil change on them yet, so besides rod bearings, anything i should be careful of? or should i be fine swapping heads/cam/lifters/pistons/rods into this shortblock along with new rod bearings and rings? btw the engine is a 5.3, factory 4l60, 1 7/8 headers, and 4:10's. not a race truck by any means, just a nasty sounding 4 door cruiser. Thanks for any future input from you guys!

p.s. i am no expert with these engines or any engines in particular so bare with me if any stupid questions are asked.
