Stick with the 317's and save your cash, really just keep it simple.

The 317's flow awesome and just milling them will be more than enough to help out with compression. Swapping to 243/799 seems like a money down the drain to me.

My dished Pistons are fly cut for the valves, if I mill 0.030 of will I have clearance, and how much will it bump compression?

To my knowledge, none of the factory piston were fly cut for valves but I could be wrong.

I've never seen a set of stock pistons in any LQ4 or LQ9 with fly cut pistons. Perhaps you have a motor that someone put pistons in already???

Late model motors have valve reliefs in the pistons. It's for VVT or DOD, I think. I have an LFA 6.0l that has flat tops with valve reliefs and I have a set of Pistons from a LY6 that are dished with valve reliefs.

I think I'm going to go with a BTR stage 2 cam and a set of 243 heads with headers and a tune. Hope it's good

I'll take my thoughts and just dump them in the trash then.

This could have been done for cheaper but o well.

I'm getting the 243 heads for the price it will cost for me to mill the 317. So i think I would be better with the 243. Just bolt on and go

I may have been overly dramatic there lol.

But I guess if you can snag a set of 243's for like the $80-100 it would cost to lightly mill a set of cylinder heads, go for it.

Ya, no problem.
I think I'm listen to a lot of people locally here also. And I wouldn't want to mill the heads and the valves hit the Pistons,( so I've Ben told) becouse they are fly cut for a reason. And Im told that I will have to change the push rod also if I mill the heads.
Might be people just trying to get money out of my pocket
