Engine problem

I’m new here. New to the performance scene and to this forum. Don’t know if I’m posting right. I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado 4wd and I had a mechanic put in a stage 4 Texas speed cam and valve springs and rods and lifters and had a dod and vvt delete. I drove it about 3 months tryin to tune it and all of a sudden I have a knock. Mechanic said it could be spun bearings or broken rod. Did I put too big of a cam in it? What could have caused this? What are my options? Rebuild or get a short block motor to put in it. I’m already 6k in the hole on this build.

What converter did you go with? Is the knock rpm related, does it knock at idle or just under load?

Stall converter? Circle d 3200. At first it never knocked at idle. When I had to run test runs for a tune and gun it you could barely hear it. Never heard just at a normal speed going down highway. when i had to do a final tune it got worse and started knocking pretty loud. so now it knocks at idle

Does it sound like it’s in the top end or bottom end? Could be spun cam bearing.

I thought it might have been on top. But the mechanic said it sounds like it’s coming from the bottom. He did mention it could be spun bearing or rod broke. But he can’t determine that unless he takes the oil pan off. It cost me 250$ to get it towed to him and he’s talking 3-400$ just to take the oil pan off. He don’t rebuild so he suggest I get another motor or just the block. Makes me sick that I spent 2000$ in parts and got charged 3900$ to install them. I had the truck 5 months and barely drove it and it’s already messed up.

Your cam is probably fine so your not gonna be out any parts just labor. I’ve been there and it isn’t fun…

Easiest thing to do is drain oil and look for the glitter.

that’ll will determine if the bearing is spun or rod is broke?

then problem is that the mechanic I took it to doesn’t do that kind of work. Rebuilding. He suggest I’d get another block.
