Default 65 chevy conversion

after having no luck with the 700r4 i have decided to go with the nv3500 does anybody know if i can use a mechanicle clutch or do i need to have a hydralic cluch assembly. my project origanally had a muncie 4 spd wich was taken out and a 700r4 was installed. the truck sat for approx 9 years in a feild until i came across it. i put a 350 motor in and drove for approx 1 year untill the trans gave out i found another 700r4 to replace it but the guy i got it from wasnt sure if it worked...it didnt. so i still have the pivot points for the clutch linkages was just wondering if i could get away with using a mechanicle clutch with the nv3500. any advice would be a great help
