08 turbo 5.3 Silverado
 

Hello everybody, I’m just trying to determine what turbo setup is this. I just got this 08silverado with the 5.3. The guy that I got it from told me it needs a tune, yet it drives fine with me. It is my daily right now

At a guess it's a On3 Turbo kit but a picture of the exhaust manifold on the turbo side would help tell.

How do you know the tune is fine though? If you have no idea if it has the correct injectors in it, don't know if the fueling is correct in boost, it may truly be off and still need a tune.

im not saying the tune is fine, im saying it drives fine with me. I know I need a tune, I’m just trying to figure out what kind of turbo it is because if I need to get parts for it , etc.

perhaps a better angle of the camera to show the cast name on the turbo itself would help
and usually when a turbo needs parts, its usually replaced.

but id find a locla dyno to fix/check your tune. It may seem fine to drive, but you might be burning your piston heads without even knowing it.
and engine with no water will drive just fine as well. until it dont
