I recently inherited a 1986 S10 Durango that has been updated with a 383 Stroker and a 411 geared rear end. Needless to say the original 4 speed couldn't handle the 500 Hp and was next on the list but never completed. Anyone one else have a similar setup? I am looking for transmission suggestions, I would like it to be a semi pro street/ occasional driver setup. It would be awesome if it was a direct bolt in or minimal adjustments I could do in the driveway, minus driveshaft adjustments of course. I appreciate any guidance anyone can provide that has been there done that for say. I am undecided on auto versus manual even though it is currently a manual. A shifter setup recommendation would be great as well. If you have a picture of what you have would be helpful as well. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. Have you installed the 400 in a gen 1 S10? That was one I was considering but I do not know the extent of modifications required.

I had a 350 & 700R4 with shift kit in a gen 1 Blazer. It was a lot of fun with a little shot of laughing gas ran 7.9 1/8th.

Nice, did the transmission fit well or did it need a lot of alteration to fit? I believe the blazer is a slightly different setup, correct?

Had to cut the tunnel and resize the driveshaft but it wasn't a problem at all.
