Default LS Swap S10 In NY

Hey guys, been looking around all over the internet and just can't seem to find the right answer for the question im looking for. Unfortunately I live in NY and i've gotta question swaps and such. Looking to do a LS swap on a S10 and not only are 95 and under harder to find in good shape I prefer the newer style. From what I believe I have gathered is that I should be able to do the swap on a 96+ and pass inspection so long as the "Engine and PCM" do not throw a check engine light on the S10 (having required parts or having them tuned out) to make it fail inspection. Could anyone confirm this? or have had experience in this. My concern is that if they plug it in to an "LS Engine PCM" and when they have to scan my VIN on the S10, is that going to cause an issue?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You will likely find that you can not put a older S10 vin into a newer computer.

I know with HP Tuners that doing so will give you a VIN/OS mismatch problem no matter what.

there is a bastard year s10 out there that makes it harder to swap. I want to say that it is the 1996. Give Current Performance a call with your question. They can answer all EFI related questions for S10 swaps. s10 swaps are their specialty.
