is an awesome effing guy. met up with him bright and early this morning and headed to his place. started ripping into the truck and spraying everything down with some super-*** penetrating spray. made a parts run (my bad Ben!) and got the headers bolted up and y pipe installed. SUPER EASY install for some reason (fast work eh Ben?) and went for a test drive with his laptop to make sure everything was running like it was supposed to.

Good news: NO EXHAUST LEAKS! pulled passenger valve cover (got bored he said, we're sticking to that one anyway) clean as a whistle......and runs like a scalded ape now (well for a 4.8 with basic mods and no tune anyway)

Bad: My injectors are maxing out according to HPT.
and.. we had to grind a small piece off the tranny (just dont look he says)

Ben is the man. Nuff said.



Oh, and dont mind the fish pieces.

I would like to know why he had a can of super "*** penetrating" spray, and what that has to do with installing headers.

LOL, I don't know why those things went in as easy as they did. Some of you may know the spray, its "Aerokroil" pretty commonly used industrial penetrating oil... If the parts are still just warm to the touch, hit the bolts with these things and let 'em set and it makes life much easier.

The stock manifold bolts literally broke loose with just the turn of a wrist, no jerking, pulling, or busted knuckles necessary

Ill go back and look through that log, I know they went to at least 85% because my gauge flashed at me... Probably 87% or so. Like I described, anything much over 85% IDC and the injectors start getting "unpredictable" and the pulse width gets uneven. Some 31lb 8.1L injectors would be nice insurance if yore gonna do a cam. I couldn't believe with an intake and headers, the 4.8 would max out the stock 24lb'ers.... But according to the log, it pretty much has.

FYI: to anyone installing Pace LTs on a factory 5spd truck, there's an ear right below the starter that WILL NOT let the header pass through, we massaged it a touch with 'ole Milwakee and it fit like a glove and doesn't really look bad

Truck runs good!!! Except for the usual fuel trim issues, but they will learn to a certain extent, other than that, get a full tune done on that thing and watch it run even better!!!

Oh yeah, shift it out higher than 5K, that little 4.8 is just starting to get going at 4K and then you kick it in the nuts by shifting early j/k, I know the limiter won't let you go much higher anyway.

Yeah I short shift lol. Have to now. Draws too much attention. Took my cousin for a ride and now he wants a set put in. As for the *** spray... Those damn chickens...
