Lightning Insurance

I have a question for you lucky Lightning owners, is your insurance really high. And is your truck insured under a regular F-150 truck or is it insured under "Lightning"? And also is your vin number different than other F-150's?

Vin is different. Some companies show it as a Lightning, some show it as an F150, but most just insure it as a F150. Full coverage on mine is 650 a year.

State Farm list the Lightning as just a reg F150. That is one of the great advantages over a Lightning compared to sports car. That and we can kick most of thems ass :D

USAA list mine as a Lightning, its about 600 a year

doesn't really matter, the VIN designates the powertrain and they know what you have - they will rate you as such regardless... it's the same as asking if you are listed as a V6 or V8, doesn't matter if it's specified in writing, it's understood b/c of the VIN's 8th digit

my insurance company shows it as a "heratage f-150" but i still pay up the a#@ for full coverage!

i pay $150 a month but thats no difrent than my honda was. All the other fun cars out there where about $375 a month

My insurance company said they go by numbers, each vehicle has a certain number smaller cars and sports cars have a high number and trucks have low numbers. The higher number the higher the insurance rate. Does anyone elses insurance company do that? I am wanting something fast but my insurance company wont insure me under a sports car because I have a wreck 2 1/2 years ago and I am almost 19. But my insurance guy said trucks are fine because they are big, so I am hoping that they will let a Lightning be insured. I have always liked the Lightnings and I would love to kill my buddy's 1996 Z-28 that he always talks about. I think it will be easy, automatic 2.73 gears and it is a convertible.

Also my insurance for my 1997 Silverado Z71 is 165 a month full coverage, will a Lightning be close to that by any chance.

If they won't insure me under a Lightning, I will just have to find a Joe Gibbs Silverado.

Thanks for the help guys!!

Probably. Just call your ins. company and aske them what ins. on a F150 would run ya.

I'm with Allstate, it's listed as a reg F150 and insured as one. I double checked and everything is proper.
