Yea, Another 6.0 swap
 

Wasn't planning on doing the 6.0 swap any time soon, but i think i found a deal i cant pass up. A local guy has an lq4 out of an '01 i believe the year is. It has 180,000km(110,000miles) and he says it has the aluminum heads. Anything else i should be looking for? did the longer crank ever come with aluminum heads? Is the mileage anything to be concerned about? I'd probably be doing lifers, work the heads, and cam swap before i dropped it in. He was asking 1200 for everything. (intake, injectors, manifolds, starter, pcm, wiring harness, etc...)

Not really sure how plentiful 6.0's are in your area, but I was able to get an 05 lq4 with matching 4l80e for $1100. Just searched around for awhile, if your planning on tearing into the motor those are all additional costs! Still 110k isn't too much mileage for an 01, you wont know much about the internals till you tear into it. Although you can ask the simple questions like: did it have regular oil changes, how was it driven, and why was it pulled or reason for the sell? I looked over the engine heavily because mine was involved in an accident. Every situation is different... If it checks out well wave $900 cash in front of him and see if he bites ha ha! For your own sanity be absolutely positive it's a 6.0l before you go walking off with it! I made that mistake with a 5.3 that turned out to be a 4.8.... Just my .02 Good luck with the buy!

there just aren't many around here period. some are asking around 1800 for a long block only with upwards on 300k. I'll be going to check it out later this week hopefully. let that be the deciding factor.

thatq4 mentioned i'm the above post:) he came down to 1000 and threw in another complete lq4 that had a knock. i'm really happy with how it all worked out

does one need the 4l80 to do a swap? have a '00 Sierra SLT 4x4 xcab, in the process of HCI job, but might be able to p/u a lq4 cheap, BUT if i need to back it with the "80" i may have to wait till i can afford another trans..

use the 5.3 fly wheel

yea if you have the short crank it should bolt right up with the 60e using the 5.3 flywheel.
