yeah i think the ring land went too. i was asking what bearing to buy. they have p and h bearings. odd thing happened today the piston slap sound went away for abit. but a little later it came back. some times its loud other times not. i don't understand.

i don't have a catch can. just vented out right at the moment. but i do have one line going to just before the turbo inlet.

hey jimmy can't do the 383 thats what josh is putting in his 97 gmc. but i'm going to take that money and get new pistons and rods. and with a new ls6 cam it would be great. wink wink.......... this has to be a very inexpensive good build.

You can probably have it running for a couple hundred bucks depending on wha you've got your heart set on as far as parts.... Pretty much everything in these motors is really reliable/strong, minus the stock pistons...even stock rods have handled some good power.

i've thought about a stock rod forged piston combo. not sure how it would do though.

no clue besides a bad build (machine shop put the short block together)

to be honest, if I lost my motor now, I'd follow those lines, nothing too expensive besides the pistons and a bore job.

the sucky part is i just got a tc78 turbo. so i want to use it to some potential. can the stock rods with good pistons do that? i know a few have made 800+ on stock rods. i would like 700 or so for track use and a daily driven meth & 93 octane fueled 12-15 so psi. if stock rods with say arp rod bolts can do that i'm game.

does yours have any noise? and does it come and go? mine really sounds like a lifter or rather a rocker arm taping and some times it goes away. i may take a bore scope and check out the pistons before i go to far. i checked my oil. i didn't realize how dirty it is. this i think could be why its burning abit and taping a lifter. yeah, no? it never knocked the whole trip. a/f was 10.8-11.5 while in boost.

well i made a video of the noise. it comes and goes. when you first fire it up its not there then it comes in alittle and goes away. sometimes it just stay there and ticks. so is it just a bad lifter? the fast ticks are my big *** injectors idling the tap is what your listening for. its pretty loud.

I would deffinitly do a 2 bar tune on that thing when you get it back up and running. That will help keep that from happening again.

its got a 2bar tune. it never knocked and never went lean when this happened. does the vid sound like a lifter? you have to listen through the loud injectors. oh yeah changed the oil and the little bit of smoke comeing from the vent hose is gone.
