why not a ls6?

first off a shortblock doesnt make the same power. listen carefully so youre not misinformed. a LS6 short block and LS1 shortblock are the same internals. minus the cam. now some 01 and 02 Fbodys came with LS6 blocks. so i can sell you a LS6 shortblock tomorrow. Beastmode recently picked up a motor that uses a LS6 block. they use the same crank and everything. now if it was a complete long block then yes it would make power actually 405HP but since its a shortblock. that only means the block and rotating assembly. which isnt nothing more then your typical flat top piston ls1

which is fine, so what exactly makes up for the extra hp in a ls6? heads, cam and intake? only reason i want to buy this is for the simple fact of it being a low mileage motor, its cheap, and i can pick it up, so i dont see why my chops are getting busted right now

Yes the LS6 comes with the LS6 intake, 243 head castings and cam...im unsure of cam. Youll probably swap that out anyway so who gives a ****. Also i think it has a different valley cover if im not mistaken. I say go for it, if you got the jingle. Be different.

The extra cubes will help make more power across the rev range even with your stock heads. Ideally you'd like to have a set of LS6 heads and the intake to maximize the upgrade. If your truck has an iron block you'll see a weight savings too.

A 5.7L aluminum block is going to be an improvement over an iron block 5.3L. That pretty well covers it. There is no reason other than they are commonly very expensive to not use them.
