What are you all using for radiators?
 

OK, I towed my big trailer, 26' race car hauler loaded with tools, tires, gas, etc for the first time with the new trans a few weeks ago. Didn't get 30 miles from the house before the radiator end cap cracked. Parked it and used a buddies truck till Sunday night, and then put a Advance Auto stock replacement in it in a grocery store parking lot to bring it home. Towed again last weekend and while I am not overheating, I normally run about 170 and it was hitting 210 accelerating and going up hills. Looking for a two row radiator or something like that.
Truck is a '03 Suburban 1500 with the stock 5.3 flex fuel, freshly rebuilt 4L60E with corvette servo, shift kit, upgraded clutches, beast sun shell and 5 pinion planetaries. I am putting a LQ4 6.0 together with a mild cam, mild port and polish, long tube headers, OR Y pipe, new rings, bearings, oil pump, timing set, springs, water pump, belts and hoses and the balancer.
What is a good high capacity radiator, I have the 34" core, and will be putting dual fans on when I put the 6.0 in and get it tuned.

Great question - all the aluminum radiators I've found for a reasonable price are single row. Stepping up to the dual row aluminum costs big bucks unless you get a deal from somewhere. I found a Mishimoto Radiator Aluminum dual row for hella cheap on ebay because of a blemish. I'll be trying to custom mount it into my 1500 5.3 soon when I swap in my 427.

OK, maybe I am going about this wrong.


Is anyone having issues with not holding temp while towing or driving hard, in traffic with the AC on? I know that the efan will help, but when I am going 65mph down the highway, and pulling a hill, and it runs up from 170-210, I start getting nervous! Anyone having issues?

What converter are you using as far as stall, and do you have an auxillary or aftermarket trans cooler??

Stock converter. I have purchased a large cooler, but haven't installed it yet.

I use a stock 34" one

...... With the trucool 40k it actually lowered my coolant temp too by something like 20*
