A cheap ones are hard to use, and the expensive ones are that but easier to use. Other that they do the same job.
And my feelings are that if you race alot TI or at the very least tool steel retainers and locks are a must both companies you mentioned are very reputable. Also lower weigfht retainers and locks allow more valve control and free up a couple not a few horsepower. The XFI cams are pretty extreme in the lift department and lift kills lifters and valve springs so don't cheap up.
When I first started in hotrods .600 lift was race only. Now a days its not uncommon becouse the heads the average guy can afford can support those big cams too. So now our limiting factor is the valve springs and the pressure needed to take advantage of those big cams.
The old Duntov 30 30 was one hell of a cam for its day, but its lift was less then .485" lift, 254* duration @ .050 which adds up to about 300 duration at normal specs. They used cams such as this becouse the springs of there day .500 lift was extreme. We just happen to hit the same problem again.

There is only one tool worth spending your money on for the LS series spring swap bar none. It's the Vinci/Crane for $100. It does two valves at a time. None of the others do that. It's a real time saver. It pays for itself on the first use.
