I'm sticking with my 3.42s b/c it is a single cab and I do a lot of highway driving and love the mpgs. Going to 3.73s would just hurt my mpg with out much notice in performance.

However, Going from 3.42s to 4.10s is like throwing a 50shot on the 3.42s so I have herd lol

Why are you pulling the heads, just to mill?Thats honestly not worth the cost to hp ratio for this little mouse motor...IMHO

So what size tires do you have? I have seen lots of trucks gain mpgs swapping gears.

This is true depending on your miles OP. I was thinking you were at 170K but that was another post, if your motor has under a 100K I would run the stock lifters and leave the heads on, but if you want to change the lifters than have the heads milled while they are off is the perfect time. There are several people that have reused the stock lifter over 200K and they haven't had issues.

If you are on a time crunch you could buy a set of stock heads and have the machine shop mill those and install the springs so when it comes time to do the swap you just have to replace the heads

I've seen stock truck lifters turn 8500 rpm for two full seasons without any issues. I would just order the correct length push rods for the stock setup and avoid all the extra work. Unless your gonna take of .030" or more I doubt you'll see any difference.

That's impressive for a stock lifter, do you know roughly how many miles were on the lifters?

My truck has 174,xxx. I was thinking that I would replace them for my reinsurance. I do t want to destroy everything.

You have seen people run them to 8500 at 200k

Just a stock size. I loved 4.10s in my mustangs but never had them in a gm vehicle.
