swapping alum block for iron
 

hey guys im in the process of rebuilding a 6.0 vmax truck for a buddy was supposed to be a simple cam swap and turned out it had a broken piston and cracked cylinder. so im wandering can i swap everything into an iron block and everything still bolt on. i think internally it should be ok my only question is it the re a threaded boss for the knock sensors down low like the alum block? if anyone has any input it would be great thanks in advance.

Is this an L76 Block? in an 07-08 Vmax truck?

There is an Iron Version of that style block that you can use as a direct swap. You can also have the aluminum block re sleeved.

You can use an earlier block but you will need make some changes and use some adapter harness to relocate things.

yes it is an l76 07 truck, what is required to switch out with an older 6.0 iron block? my main concern is if they will work with the 58x crank trigger, and crank sensor, and the knock sensors, thanks for any advise. or pointers

The Iron blocks don't have the provisions on the side for the knock sensors. You could use valley knock sensors and buy or make a harness adapter. You also have to swap the PCM Values for the earlier sensors.

Just make sure you use the 58x sensor with the 58x wheel on the crank. The timing cover and all the other parts should all swap over.

After further Research you might be able to drill a bung on the side of the block for the LS2 style knock sensors.

All the harnesses I found were for putting an LS2 based engine in an LS1 wired car/ truck.
