Stock timing set slop

Has anyone ever actually tested how much slack (retard) is in the stock timing set compared to one that is tight when its first installed?

I'm not looking for war stories about how loose they felt... I want actual degreed in cam experience. Has anyone directly tested it with a stock set and then a nice aftermarket set with no play?

I know GM designed them this way intentionally... they use cam timing and crank timing differences to help detect misfires. I am wonderign if there are adverse effects to actual cam timing though.

No one else huh? I know it seems like an odd thing to test.
