What induction are you going with? 500+ should not be a problem but it may be a handfull to drive in town. My 482 is supposed to be 700+ hp and it gets interesting with a stick shift.

I guess the question should be what do you want to use your truck for?
|
Also with enough cam you can get away with more static compression. Goes back to what you want to deal with and how the truck will be used. My 482 is Naturally aspirated.

i drove my 3600 around town with no problems and i will with the 4000-4200 in the 408 but it all depends on ur driving style if u can handle something like in town or now

I'm a complete newbie on engine builds but I've read here the stock crank can handle like 700-800hp or something like that. If you're on a budget I would at least try a search. Good luck and keep us posted, would like to hear how it turns out. |

Why don't you keep the stock crank and just get pistons & rods? I mean if the stocker is in good condition.

bc there is only a slight difference when it comes to price between say 347 and 383 kits. why not pay 400 bucks more for a forged name brand crank? i def would just for the piece of mind knowing i had quality parts but thats just me, to each his own, it pays to play.
Thanks for clarifying. |
as soon as the block comes back from the machine shop and i get some sexy competition orange powder coat on her ill take some pics. i have some of my empty engine bay and the block on the stand. i plan to do a full thread on the build with some video of her first start up. ill keep you guys posted.
