RPM for 6.0

not for the long haul it wont. shifting higher wont really help with the sluggishness after the shift. one you need to tune out the torque management. two you need a converter with the right stall range. and three you need servos and a shift kit to make sure the shift is quicker and holds right. one thing wont fix it all. everything has to be right to get where you wanna go. hope this gives you something to think about.

With my 07 with stock converter it would pull down to maybe 34-3800 as I recall shifting at 6000. After a looser converter it would only fall back to 4800-5000 or so shifting at 6400. Stayed in the powerband after the shift much better although I think I was giving up some torque. So I had it tightened. You just need a looser converter and that will do the trick. Good luck!

so if i'm reading this right, you did a 6.0 swap in your truck with a Z06 cam and springs and your shift points are off, but your tuner is a hand held that allows you to set where you want to shift at, the only experience I have thus far was with a tuner that allowed me to change shift points two ways one by RPM the other was by ratio, my stock ratios were shown in the handheld and it was more trial than error, I actually wanted out of 1st gear faster as towing was a bi*^%, doing it with RPM killed 2nd gear it just bogged everything down, when I went at it with ratio's, decreasing my 1st gear ratio while dropping the RPM on the final go, I got what I wanted. Now I think the reverse should work, you want more 3rd gear, keep the RPM or go a little lower, (trail and error) and change the shift point ratio's they were like 1.08-1.15 I can remember but I threw in 1.08-1.10 with 5800 rpm and i got my trailer up and moving a lot faster than i did before with the stock tune, dunno if this will work but I can't see why not, what programmer are you using? Don't quote my numbers that was hmm 2 1/2 years ago and a different truck, but anything you can tell me about the 6.0 swap please do, I have a 1999 LQ4 6.0 (as i needed a throttle cable set up) just for ease as the truck is going to my dad some 28 hours away, dumping this into a 1990 step side shorty, will be long tubes with cats, x pipe and duals. Tearing down the 6.0 and starting to search for kits or parts to do a rebuild, thinking a more aggressive cam or a stock GM cam with bigger roller lifters, seems to work in the carb motor world, hopefully something from the classifieds will pop up.

Lil old post.. and his truck has been sold a couple years ago.
but Wow.. im not sure what you meant. you changed your gear ratios instead of just changing the shift points by MPH.
he tuned it with EFI Live

If your going with a 80 or manual you should be fine though.
