Ramp difference between 224r and tr224?
I'm trying to figure out which one i want.. Now the TSP 224R is rated at 273 .006 and i dont know what the TR224 is at .006 I cant find it anywhere! Thunder racing never answers their phone! Can anyone tell me what it is?

The 224R has XER lobes, which is more aggressive then the TR220 which is on a XE lobe.. Ultimately the 224r should make more power

I think I spoke with you on the phone earlier and gave you that .006" info :) For a bit more info and eye candy, here's an old post we made after engine dyno testing their cam vs ours :)

Yea, I was under the impression that Thunder used their own proprietary lobes...their cams have definitely proven themselves...
|
Hmm maybe I had a brain fart.. But I am almost sure that XER lobes are more aggressive then thunders... I have been wrong before, sure I be wrong again... :)

The guy over at Thunder called me back last night and told me that their 224 lobes were very close in aggressiveness to the Comp xe-r lobes. But he couldn't tell me exactly what they were since they are their own design. Anyway, he talked me into their 227 extreme cam... The lobes are quite a bit more aggressive! So aggressive that the minimum lift they could grind with that duration was .649! I know the lift ain't gunna do me any good when its that high but the duration and ramp rate will. He told me the low end on this cam should be similar to the tr224 but top end should be quite a bit stronger.

Higher lift camshafts for a given duration always idle smoother. Here's my .612 lift 224/228 cam idling before I even got serious about tuning it.
