O2 sensor problems after header install
 

Hi guys,

I am sure the answer is here somewhere, but my search didnt work.

I just had new Dynatech Supermaxx headers installed and am getting the service engine light come on. I took it to the dealer , they plug into the truck and tell me it is an O2 sensor reading (which he had a bit of trouble with during the install already, they actually replaced the sensors with new ones, so the problem in how they read info i thinnk).

To give you the whole picture up front I put on a maggie S/C and got a nelson tune all at the same time with NO problems, so I kept going to the headers and BAM! the truck computer doesnt get it. :bang:

Is this something that needs adjusting with the tune? My dealer does have HP tuners, which they use with corvettes, but the answer to this problem was not obvious to them. Have any of you gone through this before?

knowing what code it was would be helpful. there are at least 4 o2 sensors on the truck.

Sorry; The dealer didnt give me the codes. But that brings me to another question, what model code reader will read my 2008 truck?

You still have rear sensors?

man, would I not know. My dealer did the corsa sport cat back first, I had another shop put in the supercharger and the dealer put in the dynatechs (the supermax system with cats). I am trying to stay emmissions legal because they test in Ontario every few years.

Go to a auto parts store and have them read the codes for you (usually free). You may need to have your tune adjusted to turn off the light. How's it running?

I had this same problem when i installed my dynatechs 3ish years ago.
I'm sure it's a similar problem.
Basically the o2 for bank2 didn't get hot enough in the stock location.
I had to move the o2 up to the bung that is capped off with a large bolt inside the cat itself for it to get hot enough.
Only problem is if it is giving you a code already that means the heater in the o2 is already fried and you will have to replace the o2 and move it forward all at the same time.

Same here; my understanding is that this happens (mostly) in uncoated stainless headers. As stated, the rears don't get hot enough.

The truck runs great, BTW, I feel like a kid again every time I get in the truck. This is my first souped up vehicle, and most of what I am learning comes from here.
