Default need help with cam selection for 5.3

so my brother is wanting to replace his cam in his 2002 Silverado with 5.3 it 4x4 and has 4.10 gears stock. he wants something with a nice idle and some torque, he has a cold air intake and exhaust that's about it for mods, and I also have HP Tuner to do any adjustments needed. his truck is a daily driver also. He was looking at z06 cam or the gm hot cam.

For a 4x4 I would do a 212/218
Great low end power and will come in sooner than the ls6
The ls6 cam was good but power n torque will come in to late for a 4x4s need

GM Hot Cam would be a bad choice, its really does not make good low end and the peak numbers are not impressive either. It sounds fast though...

212/218 low lift is a good choice with LS6 springs for a budget, solid gains across the whole powerband and not be begging for a higher stalled converter.

You could also go with a custom grind...

Isky 212/212 .561/.561 112lsa

Has a little bit more lift than the 212/218 and will work just fine with a stock stall. The Isky 165A beehive springs are a perfect fit for that cam as well, and not very expensive.

I run the triple 12 in my 4.8L and love it. It runs smooth as hell and makes power over the entire RPM range. I also am running the 165A springs from ISKY and can't complain a bit. I would recommend both to anyone.

How far up the RPM range will it pull for you in the 4.8? Im hoping I can get a solid 6000-6100rpm out of it in my 5.3.
