Question Mildly built 5.3 0 here is what i got so far, now what heads?

2000 GMC 1500 reg cab short box 2wd with 5.3 motor, Thunder Racing TR224 on a 114 LSA 563 lift cam
Thunder Racing 7.4 pushrods
PAC 1218 single beehive valvesprings
Pace Setter Long tube headers
Cat delete
4000 Stall converter
NX 100 Shot, plate kit
true dual 3" exhaust with the Magnaflow race bullet mufflers.
HP Tuner and Wideband
3.73 gears w rear locker

Those are my mods so far. I was thinking of bolting on a nice set of heads to really wake the motor up. I figured if i do that might as well swap out to a fast intake system with a larger throttle body too. Im thinking these are the next best steps to take with the motor no???? Im here for advice. Are the Fast intakes pretty good quality and performing intake system? With that said what are a good head alternative for the 5.3 vortec motors??

not trying to jack the op thread but im in a similar boat. he's asking about heads, not an engine swap to be fair. im also looking for 5.3 heads but they need to be able to go on my 6.0 later. my opinion is why swap now when my 5.3 is running good? so i want to buy heads for the 5.3 now and then later throw them on the 6.0. ive asked before and the general idea for budget heads(not trickflow or afr) seems to be p&p and maybe milled 243s?

The problem you fail to relize is what works well on a 5.3 engine may not be optimal for a 6.0. It's the same problem with guys that build a 6.0 and later upgrade to a 408...

If you want to build a 5.3 then get those type of heads reworked and upgrade the valves. depending on what you have done your looking at spending $1000

So with that in mind would you rather spend it now, or save it and swap to a larger platforum later???

You can put the prc 5.3s on either a 5.3 or a 6.0 and they really pick up a 6.0 and they are cheap

i have the exact same setup in my truck (except a 3600 converter instead of a 4000) with some 243s milled .030", runs pretty good IMO

I'm assuming you bought a full cam package from ThunderRacing like I did when I built my 5.3 back when. In that case, with the mods your running right now, I'm thinking your gonna need bigger Injectors real soon. Since your running built heads, I'd just run them the way they are right now. If I were you, with the mods you have now, I would run boost. The stock bottom end and built heads can push out a lot of HP. I made about 520 RWHP with the stock bottom end on the 5.3L and built heads with pretty much the same engine mods as yourself and a STS Kit. Just my two cents.
