Default main bearing caps

Well I hope its right cause its together now.

Do not remember the orientation of the main caps. The rear was easy to figure out because the rear cover has to fit into the recesses.

The front and other three I faced the curved lip toward the rear.

But now the #s 1 2 3 4 are opposite the #5 rear cap.

Tried finding a pic online but no luck.

Found 1 pic in the Chilton manual and looks like #2and 3 are correct. Couldn't find pic of #1.

Any one have a pic of main caps installed less the windage tray?

Am ready to install the windage tray if all is correct.

Thanks.

On the LSx engines that have the main caps with the "ears", #1-4 should all have the "ears" facing towards the rear of the block, while #5 faces forward.

Make sure the bearing tabs are on the same side. That's the easiest way to tell.
Never min pic has been posted.

Found one pic(drawing) of it. http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/go...bearings_1.gif

The #3 thrust bearing says the 3 oil slots must face the rear. They do so I know that #3 and #5 are correct.

The pic showed #1 with the curved flange toward the rear which is how I installed it.

But would still like some clarification.

Thanks

The picture Matt@Texas-Speed posted should provide all the clarification you need. Did you look at it?
