LS1 Swap vs Mod the 5.3...?

IMO I wouldn't have vengence do it, they are WAY expensive. There are tons of other places/people that I'm sure would atleast beat their price by a little or maybe even a lot. I'd shop around. just my .02cents again.

I like vengeance, I know they are expensive but they do **** right. My buddy works there and I absolutely love his truck, and I know he knows his **** up and down about trucks. He has a sick 06 single cab 4.8.

Will you be happier with a modded to the limit 5.3 or a mild 6.0 that you can add more to later? Build the 5.3. When the power becomes more addictive and the next step is a 6.0 then you'll wish you would have gone that way to begin with. I still have a 5.3 and I'm not going to spend any more on it. The 6.0 has to much potential IMO to spend my money further modding my 5.3 and what I have now will work with the 6.0. I'm holding my breath and waitng for the right time and money for a 6.0 build.

The desert isnt that bad, cant wait to get back though. I think that your gas mileage info might be a little off. My old mans 2500 HD that weighs in at aroung 9k with the utility bed and tools gets 12 mpg city and maybe 1-2 more highway. You take that 6L and put in my 5400 lb CC and i dont think my milage would drop off that bad. Weight is the big factor with the milage on the 6L. The other option that someone mentioned of a iron 5.7 would be another good route, but you'd be without a truck for the build time. Oh and BTW Vengeance is good, but i think they are a little high too. They did my tune, which was great, minus forget a few things like chage the fan setting and remove the gov.; but other thatn that it woke my 4.8 up! Getting 20 mpg interstate w/ 4.10's.

Well the one thing I have to have is my vehicle on a daily basis. I can take a weekend and tear it apart, but come monday its gotta be running again to work and such.
What I am leaning towards is, getting new heads, getting them built with springs and valves. Obviously after market heads. Getting my cam, headers, all that. And just taking a weekend to install it all. Bring it to vengeance one day during work and grab it afterward. I work like 10 min away.
I have heard you can swap a trailblazer SS intake on for better flow too?
So far, LS1 is a later project when I make enough money to have it at a shop for a week and have someone build it for me for a turn key job. That goes for boring the motor over too. Unless I find a ridiculous deal on a 6.0 ill stick with my 5.3 and build it.

theres alot of 6.0's around this area i just got one with 60k for $1400 with a 6 month warranty . you really can't beat that but i have 120k on the 5.3 so it was easier for me to do that than wait for the 5.3 to blow up and have a lot of money in it.
