L92 reluctor wheel

What is it and do I need a 24x or 58x for a 416 stroker build?

If it's for your 08 then you'll want a 58 tooth reluctor wheel ;) It's a wheel on the crank shaft that the crank sensor gets it's signal from...the crank sensor has a magnet in it and it's signal fluctuates as the metal teeth of the wheel pass the magnet.

do I need to convert anything on the vehicle if the 58x comes on an assembled shortblock?

No, the PCM and crank position sensor will already be set up for 58X.

so the more teeth, the more constant the signal is I assume?

The 24 reluctors are for NBS trucks 99-06 GM switched to 58 wheel on the NNBS 08-10 trucks.

I don't think more constant is the right term, but I think more teeth gives the PCM a better idea of where the crank is. How this might translate to improved performance, better fuel economy, changed whatever, I don't know.

And the best Part, GM is once again going to change the reluctor! The new one will still be 58 teeth, something about positioning. -Adam @ Callies
