Iron LS2 Help

The only thing I'm set on is the LQ4/LQ9 and the heads, the rest can be up for debate.
I'm first off wondering if my previously stated combination will work out ok.
Secondly, I'm all for your opinion Mr.03sierraslt, I'm not trying to come across like an *******.
What I want is a decent working, factory like, stout 6.0. I'm not against big cams, I'm also not against a smaller cam.
I'm just thinking simple, such as grabbing a smashed 2500/escalade, slapping some 799/243's on it and buying a cheap Z06 cam. But I'm all ears. I don't want to call it a budget build, but I'm not really looking for anything over 400ish

If LQ9 I would say run it with the 317 heads, if LQ4 then swap them to bump compression. As for cams, personally I would go with something in the 212-218 range for duration with low lift so you can use the LS6 springs. A comp 212/218 low lift would be a good all around cam with excellent street manners and good bottom end. The LS6 cam is a good cam but there are other choices that will give you better bottom end if you end up dropping this in a ECSB. I would shoot for a comp ratio no higher then 10.5 if fuel is questionable. That's my thought.

Yes it is, it will idle like stock with that cam. Only a good ear will pick up the sound. There are allot of good cam choices but you don't need anything crazy based on what you are shooting for. Even a low 220's duration cam is mild in a 6.0 but if the goal is to use Ls6 springs you have to limit the lift. I would go with a 112 or 114 LSA.

my input.
if it were me i would find a lq9 and mill the stock 317 heads...if you have 243 heads
already slap them on. the only major difference between 317 and 243 heads is compresion. 228/232 112+4 cam with the truck intake on a mild converter works awesome in that combo with 1 7/8 headers. should get you to the 400rwhp mark. valve springs are cheap and there are better options than LS6 springs unless you're planning to stick with a stock cam. your ethanol blend can be worked out in the tune. this cam tuned out to be very tame behind the 6.0.
this combo went 12's in a full weight crewcab on slicks.
