I think I might be running into a problem

I had a 5.3 with a 4l80e tci flex plate, and Circle D. Well as many know, I blew up the 5.3. I decided to get a 6.0. Well I got an older 6.0 that had iron heads. I just read an old post that the crank is longer, and I am wondering if it will work with my combo? I am assuming that with my luck it won't and all of this machine work money is down the tubes. I thought I measured it, and it was the same as my 5.3, but to be honest I can't remember.

Does the flex plate have a spacer that goes between the flywheel n crank shaft?
You have the longer crank snout so a spacer is not needed

There is a little ring that goes around the nub on the front of the converter. It doesn't move the flywheel back, only centers the converter. Is that what you mean?

No I am talking about a spacer ring that fits on the crank .
It would go between the crank n flywheel .
Your tci stuff maybe made diff than stock 80e parts .
I don't see why you can't run a gm 80e flywheel with no spacer ring and it work. The spacer makes up for a short crank on 01 and newer motors.

You will be fine. The longer crank was designed to be used with the 4L80E before the factory decided to use it with the 4L60E in the AWD set ups. The whole point of the spacer on the later models is so that it will be the same length as the long crank to be used with the 4L80E. Also the would only need to use 1 crankshaft casting between 3 motors that they would then machine and balance for the correct engine package.

Ok thanks. I think I am worrying too much, hopefully picking the parts up tomorrow.

Well just so everyone knows, the 99 6.0 crank will not work in place of the 5.3. I found out the hard way. I got the engine ready to drop in, and it is way different. The only fix is to get a 5.3 crank, and have it balanced, tear the motor back apart, and replace it. Not a good day...

Get a stock 4L80E flexplate, they are flat, not dished. Also don't use the Huhges converter spacer.

That would work, but I don't think the stock flexplate would last. They are just too thin, and I plan on really turning the power up. I think I will just have the crank shortened. Unless someone thinks I will have a problem with doing that. It has to be shortened about .3950 from my rough measurements.

I took the crank to a machine shop, and he is going to remove the thick portion so that it is the same as an original crank. I will let everyone know how it works out.
