head bolts?

Default head bolts?

can you reuse the factory head bolts? also are the arp head studs reusable? just would like to know before i purchase either.

The factory head bolts are not suposed to be re-used, Im pretty sure the ARP studs are very re-usable though.

The ARP studs are reuseable, as are the ARP head bolts

also, what design engine is mine? everyone ive tried to order head bolts from have said there are 2 designs, i dont know which one mine is. is it year specific? do i need the shorter bolts or the longer bolts? i think the 1st design has some short bolts and some long bolts, and the 2nd design has all of the longer bolts. thanks

Ive heard the 04 has all longer bolts however my 04 6.0 has long and short. Im going to try to get ARP head bolts this weekend

Mid-year 03 (at least for the LS1/LS6 blocks) is when a head bolt change was made... to all short bolts. It may have been the same time frame when the truck blocks made the change... they too went to all short bolts.

The factory head bolts should never be reused... they are a torque-to-yield (stretch) bolt.

i would also get an arp stud instead of bolt because your wer of heads on and off will be on the studd and not the block.
