Default Goodson RRJ-350 Reluctor Ring Installation tool

Anyone ever use this tool, is it pretty straight forward? I figure its buy the tool (190) or get the 58x to 24x module box from lingenfelter (260) But then again i wonder, worth the trouble of changing the wheel, or just plugging in some harnesses.

If your doing a ground up build, Whats the box cost??? and if it goes out at some point and you have to replace the box??? At least you can resale the tool and get most of your money back. Infact I would be intrested if you do buy it , use it and then want to resale it... I have been thinking about buying one myself.

That my .02 on it...

I was hoping a tool would not be needed but OH WELL. So far on this build, im only out 530 bucks and all i lack (having the rotating assembly ready to be balanced and assembled) is main bearings and cam bearings. So either way im WAY ahead money wise.

Buy the box, then reverse engineer it and sell it for less In reality though the box is still cheaper when you consider all the labor involved with taking the crank out and then having to replace bearings (unless you have it torn down already). If you don't get the crank wheel lined up perfect you're gonna be pissed too. Maybe take it to a reputable shop and just pay someone to do it.

In this case, He is building the motor from the ground up. The tool he mentioned is pretty easy to use. Like stated before when he is done you can sale it for near what he paid for it. A new Wheel is only like $25 even if you let the machine shop install it and have them check it for run out. in the end it It works out cheaper to buy the tool to install a new wheel and sale the tool when your done.

If it was a running motor then yes, I would agree just buy the box

BTW I am not sure if you have checked around but In my area my Crank shop already has the tool. He loans it out to well known customers and Local engine machine shops all the time.

There are no credible shops around here (hobbs, NM) actually there is only 1 and my boss took his crank to get turned by them, when the crank came back it wasnt clean at all. They brake cleaned the journals and turned it. All oil passages where completely stopped up, when i asked they said its how they do it. So they will never touch any of my well anything. So i would have to take it to lubbock. I am having Tiner (speeling) Machine balance it, well once i get all the parts and call them. But i do not know if they will be able to change the reluctor wheel. Also it would suck if I or someone else changed it out and then i have a running issue. So i am kinda leaning towards the box.
