combo suggestions
Well i have decided to ditch the 4.3 out of my 03 s10 and do a 5.3 build. I wanted too run my combo by some of the LSX veterans and see what you guys thought as this will be my first ls1 build....here goes
-5.3 im going to freshen it with new bearings and file fit rings, gapped for NOS -ARP rod bolts, possibly main studs -TSP 228R cam on 114 LS -PRC Stage 2.5 heads -Crane gold 1.8 roller rockers -PP intake port matched to heads, cleaned up -86mm tb -longtubes if they offer them, (havent reasearched this yet) -built 4L60, red clutches, kevlar band, TCI servos, deep pan, etc. -yank 3600 converter -8.5 or 8.8 built 4.10's i will be spraying it with a 100-200 shot, im not sure how the s10 guys are hooking up on the streets/tracks so i may do a ladder bar setup in the rear, but this will mainly be a street truck Any tips or things you might change would be appreciated. i will be starting on the motor in about a week. me personally i'd save a couple more hundred dollars and put a 6.0. dont forget a UD pulley, elec fans, and maybe a 160* t-stat, bigger injectors, transmission cooler for extra safety, and pretty sure you know this, but just incase you dont, upgraded valve springs and hardened pushrods. hope this helps

The main reason is a friend of mine owns Gearheads out of arlington Tx, he is going to sell me the 5.3 dirt cheap, he has a 6.0 but it needs quite a bit more too be complete....the 5.3 is complete so i chose it.
I knew about all the small things, but i appreciate you helping out, the heads im buying from TSP have upgraded valves, springs and retainers. The truck already has an aftermarket trans cooler. Thanks |
