cam and headers

am looking into a cam. but not sure what i need exactly. my truck will be used to tow some but not a whole lot, a few quads once or twice a month. it is my DD, but i am looking for some decent power. a lope would be cool but thats jsut it, i don't have to have the lopey sound but jsut think it would be cool lol. as i said on fullsizechevy, i am looking to bein the area of 300+ RWHP with a cam, headers, and a PCM tune. stock for my truck usually shows around 220-240 depending on the dyno and truck. what would be a good cam for my application? some have suggested a stock Z06 cam, others said a vinci trucker cam, any others?

also, how are pacesetter headers? seems to be a cheaper header than most, but also have good reviews on most forums i am on. any input?

BTW. all this for truck in sig, 2003 Z71 with 5.3

I am running a comp 265 (212/218 low lift) with headers and I am very happy with this setup. No lose of lowend, maybe a little better and a killer midrange and topend. I am running a TT3000 know and it is alot better. I would recomend a higher stall converter no matter what you choose though.

i plan on getting a stall, just not right now. gonna do the tranny later down the road. can't afford to do it all at once.

do youre tranny first. i dont have any first hand experience with trans problems on my truck, but ive heard so many stories, i beefed mine up a bit before i did too many mods. plus the converter and shift kit makes a world of difference, worth it to do the tranny stuff first.

I would at least do the Trans-Go Hd2 shift kit first.

well tranny will be second. i can't afford alot of downtime with my truck. a day or two i can handle, but a tranny rebuild would take longer than that. if i do anything to the tranny, it will get more than just a shift kit. do it once, do it right.

all the engine work i do do by myself easily enough. but i won't touch a tranny in a car. gimme a quad or bike and i can redo the tranny in my sleep, but not an auto car one. i simply can't afford that much down time to redo the tranny.

but the tranny will come in due time, just not now. i am willing to risk it for now, if it goes out i will just have to rebuild sooner than i thought. either way the tranny will get done eventually. IMO no need to put in a shift kit now if i plan on doing it right with servos, new planetary's, larger sunshell, ect later down the road.

Get Pacesetter's L/T and a CAI
Don't know about the cam but I got mine from speed-eng it ran 308 rwhp with my 6.0

i plan on doing pacesetter LT ceramic headers with the ORY, a PCM tune, and a CAI. and hope to do the cam.
