Ok guys. I spun a cam bearing in my LQ9 so its time for some new parts. Im shooting for something with a little more torque than my current setup.
Currently:-Stock LQ9
-VRX4 Camshaft 228/230 .588/.592 112 LSA
-918 springs
-TBSS intake
-Longtubes
New: -probably looking at about 12 to 1 with decked with heavily
ported 317s,
-LS7 lifters
-all arp bolts and studs
Now i need suggestions on a torque cam. From what ive seen i want something in a 220ish duration for this. Any first hand experience here anyone?

oh and the boost in compression will boost your torque also...

that vrx4 should already be real nice in the torque dept. i would keep it. use that money instead for 243 heads which begin with approx 65 ccs compared to the 317s 71ccs. youll be able to mill more, be safer ptv wise, and get higher compression in the end. with 243s milled 030, youll be at about 11.5:1. 317s wont get you there. you could mill 243s even more but then you run risk of intake mating issues. good luck your project

.5 compression isnt gonna make to big of a deal
go 11.5 and be happy, i run 11.7-8:5 on my 408

does this truck have a converter in it? If it doesnt, thats why it feels like a slouch! something in the 3600 range would be nice with that cam. A nice converter and even a set of milled 243's with no port work will really wake up the truck!
