block deck surface question

Well I got some of my parts back from my local machine shop. The block was shot peened and the deck seems like it would be too rough to seal properly for a higher boost application. I also have little bits of rust in the cylinders. I'm not real happy with their quality of work. He tried to give me my crank back with 3 chips in the journals that were not there before, but that is another story...

Yikes! The deck should be perfectly smooth...any pics?

I'll post some in a bit. I think I might just take it to another machine shop.

It's just a cell phone pic, but you should be able to get the idea.

Well I went to another machine shop, and they said I could sand it with wet/dry sand paper on a flat steel block. I used 320 and used WD40 for the wet lubricant to keep the paper clean. It might not look it,but it feels much smoother than before.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed after all you went through.

Regardless of how Block comes back, I generally take some wet dry paper and WD 40 to the block any way.
