ARP mains
I'm debating if I need to invest in an ARP main kit. I know its good insurance, but i have never really seen a LSx motor break a main cap loose. I'm not boosted but I will be using spray. What are your opinions?
|
Wondering this myself....i sprung for them on the 383 build i just started
|
I dont see the point in them unless your spinning really high RPMS for awhile.
Your gonna puke a rod or piston before you have a issue with the bottom end. |
Not really worth it unless you have the motor out and are planning a powerful build.
|
Its out, LOL! I'm only gonna spin it 6800. But it will most likely see a 250 shot..
|
I've reused them but they are a TTY bolt.
I used ARP in my 383 and in my motor I'm building now. |
It will get new ones, if I don't get ARP's, I'm just one the fence about spending the extra money. Its getting ARP head studs and ARP rod bolts. Up here at Wichita they are very strict on the NHRA rule book. The last 6L was very close to needing a cage. This motor will most likely get me sent home on the first spray pass...

You need a line hone if you use arp main bolts

ARP mains on an LS are overkill for 99.9% of builds.
