Default Anyone seen a cam bearing like this?

I had a valve come apart a while ago and I lost ambition so my truck just sat. Anyways I finally got to tearing it apart and pulled the cam that looked fine, then ran my finger on the bearing and found this.

The rest of the damage looked like this. I was at 5200 RPM's and 15 PSI when it let loose. I got lucky it didn't hit the rod. I ended up driving it to my mother in laws like this about 2 miles away.

Haven't seen a set of cam bearings do that. Wonder if it had an oiling issue? How does the journal on the cam from the corresponding hole look?

I was surprised at how good it looked. I have had this cam since I was supercharged. I think I bought it 8 years ago. I would use it again if I didnt get a cam from Jarrett.

I really have no idea why it happened. I figured something would look like it got hot, but I don't see anything. I ordered new bearings and will install that bearing. The rest look fine. A machine shop installed that bearing, and maybe it was in crooked. When I install that bearing I do it from the back of an engine so I know it's straight. I know I checked the cam by spinning it, and it moved freely or I would have stopped and pulled it back out.

What is your valve spring pressure closed vs. open? Where did the valve break? I've seen quite a few cam, cam bearing, valve and valve guide failures due to improper (too much) pressure with valve springs that are too aggressive. Not saying that is your problem just my experience with these LS motors.
