6.0 cam bearing question

Got the block striped down, going to replace rod and crank bearings, cam bearings show alot of wear. is there a special tool or way to replace the cam bearings? swingit

They are probably normal looking as weird as that sounds. But a set of durabonds and a cam bearing driver will have you fixed up. A good bearing driver is pretty pricey though. My machine shop charged me like and extra 10 bucks to drive the cam bearings in for me on the last block I had cleaned/checked.

gone get some pics real quick so I can get yalls input. To me it looks like the babbit is wore away. But I I will get engine shop to install.

Can you see copper?

BMGBOY Apr 11, 2012 08:07 AM

Yes about 50% of the bearing shows copper

Just take to a machine shop to change bearings, not worth risk of saving a couple bucks.
