5.3L into '50 Chevy truck. Need help w/Carb setup
My buddy and I have had a 1950 3/4ton Chevy pickup that we've been restoring for a few years now. Yesterday we started the tear down on a 2001 5.3L V8 and now we're looking for rebuild parts to make this carbureted. We both know full well the benefits of EFI, that's not really the point of this build, so I'd like it if this discussion doesn't turn into an EFI vs Carb debate. :engarde:
Finding the Edelbrock carb manifolds are easy enough, but what I'm unsure of is how to control the spark without the wiring harness and coil packs atop the valve covers. Is there a distributer or some type of aftermarket magneto we could use? Right now we have the engine tore apart, and beyond what I've said in this post, that is the extent of my knowledge on carbureted Gen III motors. Thanks in advance. |
MSD makes a carb ignition system to go on a vic jr etc etc... look over on 'tech, a few guys run it.

You controll your spark with MSD box http://www.jegs.com/p/MSD/758329/10002/-1
