get that 5.3 runnin and go woop on some people! FLABUOY has a 5.3 stock bottom end that has 498rwhp, and he says he not stopping till 600! yes, these 5.3's are strong but if your going through the trouble i'd agree with cody and bore it out. You can always tell em its a 5.3!

i was goin for a 80 shot direct port and either a radix or a front mount turbo not sure about hp but would like to be on the very edge of NOT having to put a cage in it to run at a track

i may bore it to a 5.7 iron block due to the pure and simple fact of more piston choices

and the 408 idea just keeps gettin stronger - since ill already have the motor pulled and everything....

i think that would be the best route to go.

Yep, I went thru the same dilema. Do the bore to 3.905" or keep looking for a 6.0L block. The stock bottom end is great short of the rod bolts. Replace them and the pistons and rods from a LS1 that went 383ci ( should be able to find a set used for under $300 ).
Callies, Eagle, and Lunati all make forged 3.622" stroke cranks for around $800. Once you have done this tho the cost to go to the 4" is nominal or the same.
You can use a 6.125" rod no problem just make sure your pistons are not poking out of the bore ( deck height ). I went with 6.200" rods for a compression increase of about 1:1 with flat top pistons.
Have fun with it!

Default Nitrous 5.3....Old thread but I think it's an overlooked option.

I have an 04 5.3 with BTR n/a stage 4 cam and titanium valve train kit. Carbed with a plate...... 10.99 @ 121 in a 4k truck. Last dyno was 560 to the wheels. Just an idea of how much a completly stock ls engine will take......I'm plan on gradually upping the shot until I hit 600 to the wheels.
