Searching will bring up all you need to know like stated.

Do you have a RCSB or is it extended cab, etc?

Basically if you are looking for a nice cam, do full boltons + the cam and if the cam is bigger than a certain point then a higher stalling converter is highly recommended. Also if you have a heavy truck with big wheels/tires you may or may not need to add new gears in the mix.

Something like a comp 212/218 would work fine with stock converter, and you will feel noticeable gains everywhere. If you go the next step up from that say like a Tsp220 or TR220 again you COULD get away with stock converter, but I HIGHLY recommend getting some type of higher stalling converter, at least a 3000 rpm. 3000-3200 would work pretty good, if you wanted to get the best out of a 220 cam then a 3400-3600 would be optimal, but not everyone wants a converter that size in a daily driver. Many people daily drive a 3400-3600 though, its all personal preference.

Or you could get someone to spec you out a custom cam for your goals and mods.

You found a cam that will add 82 hp to your stock setup? :hmmm:

Damn.. took me cam, heads, LTs, and efans.

OP - You know that a stock setup the motor has 295HP at the crank, not at the wheels right? Depending on your truck (2wd or 4wd) You're probably looking at closer to 220-240 at the rear wheels.

Getting 200 more ponies out of a 5.3 is going to take boost or nitrous. No way around it. Either one is going to affect your cam, exhaust, and intake selection.

So you need to decide if you want to stay NA or boost it, or gas it. Then we can kinda help show you the way.
