I'm gonna guess that this thing will be slower than stock unless you've got a 4000+ stall.
Mines a ~3800 with my 228 cam in a lighter truck and it's just about right, so I'd imagine that cam would need a lot more converter and some pretty serious headwork to make any kind of power |
So if i get a 3800 stall how do yall think this cam will turn out? im pretty sure im the only one who is doing this where i live, everyone heres got .581 lifts 112 lobes thats top for trucks here.

ya your gonna need about a 4k stall, head work and maybe even fly cut the pistons to run that big..
|
Why are you wanting to go soo big?? Just to say you have a bigger cam then them.. It makes no sense to put a cam in that big, when a litter cam will make more power under the curve, make your truck faster... That is foolish in my op..

im actually getting AFR heads and some serious work done i aint putting the cam in yet..

no need for anything over 580 lift on stock heads and even that is high lift for stock heads...something like the popular 212/218 cam in an avalanche would run good with a stall. the heads on the 5.3's dont flow much past .550 fyi
edit: I see your post about AFR's now, why would you put those in with stock pushrods? still an awfully big cam for a heavy truck, is this a DD? power under the curve is what you want, not power over 5k rpms for a dd |
